Co-Deals

Thursday May 31 2012

Co-Deals and Toonie Deals are now fully functional:

Today we launched our Co-Deal and Toonie Deal program. Here is how the various different programs will work.

You log in as normal, when you see the deal you will notice in the title it will say one of three different headings. They are: Today's Deal, Today's Co-Deal and Today's Toonie Deal. this is how you will know what type of deal it is.

  1. Today's Deal: These types of deals are regular deals, you pay the full coupon value and only present the coupon to the merchant to receive your service or product, no other monies are given, unless you wish to tip of course.
  2. Today's Co-Deal: These types of deals are a percentage deal, you pay only a percentage of the coupon value in order to receive the deal. When you go to redeem the coupon you then pay the balance of the coupon directly to the merchant. All Co-Deal coupons will have; "Pay Directly To The Merchant Value" clearly stated on the coupon.
  3. Today's Toonie Deal: These Types of deals may appear on Tuesday's in which case they will be called Today's Toonie Tuesday Deal but can happen at any time throughout the week. You will pay a Toonie to receive the deal and then pay the full coupon value to the merchant. All Toonie Deals will have "Pay Directly To The Merchant Value" clearly stated on the coupon.

We are very excited about our new programs as we believe this will protect our membership and help our Vendor Partners in running their businesses. When you go to purchase you may notice a box saying "Apply My Social Dollars Only" this area will be for your account dollars. Very shortly you will be able to deposit money into your account and use this box to purchase your deals or in combination with with the standard payment process. For now just leave that blank and simply hit continue, confirm the price and go through the payment process.

Starting June 1 2012 Deals Gone Social is moving to Co-Deal Offers** & Toonie Deals*

Alot of changes are coming to Deals Gone Social and over the next week and a half our site will not be listing deals. We will only be testing out the new system to ensure it works well and it is easy to navigate. We have received plenty of feedback from our members and our merchants and of course our staff. All of the feedback was taken and some we are implementing right away like Our Co-Deal program and our Toonie Tuesday program. We are also putting in an accounting based system for our members. This system will allow you to deposit directly into your own account and will convert Cash Dollars into Social Dollars that you can use later. No one wants to put a Toonie on their Credit Card. This system will also allow you to see your refer a friend credits and any Social Dollars we may give you.

There is alot of debate here on whether our new system should be fully internal Where you first deposit money into your account and then using the Social Credits to purchase or give you the option of just purchasing out right. We still have some time for your feedback so please feel free to let us know what you think.

Our system change is a direct result of what has happened to us in the past and in the industry as a whole, our members must pre pay in full before they get the goods or service, and what has now been happening is that in some cases the merchants, even though we try to vet them take the money we give them with no intention of delivering the goods or service leaving us and other regional deal sites to deal with the problem.

We will still have regular deals where you pay in full, but after the new system is in place we will encourage our merchants to participate in the Co-Deal and Toonie programs and we encourage you, our members to support the merchants that do participate in our programs.

*So just what is a Toonie Deal Anyway?

Toonie deals are just that, A Toonie. You pay a Toonie to get the deal then take the voucher directly yo the merchant and redeem the voucher price which is clearly marked in the Fine Print. Usually Toonie Deals will show up on Tuesday's, but they can happen at any time throughout the week. The great thing about Toonie Deals is that the merchant can offer bigger discounts because the commission paid on these deals is so much lower.

Below is an example of what you will see.

**So just what is a Co-Deal Anyway?

Have you ever bought a coupon and when you went to use it felt like the service was less than desirable? It most likely was because in the eyes of the business you are a non-paying coupon customer, even though you paid for the coupon some time ago.

The reason for this is because the business most likely only received half of the money from the deal or hasn't received the money yet. Over sold because they did not or were not allowed to put a cap on the coupons that were sold. Maybe the business did not fulfill their obligation to your satisfaction or only did half the job. You have already pre-paid in full and now have very little recourse. We try to solve the problems for our members but that can prove difficult sometimes as the Vendor already has your money and may not return our quires which leaves us scrambling to try to solve the problem.

With the daily deal world exploding there are bound to be unscrupulous businesses just looking for a big pay day and have no intentions of ever fulfilling their obligations leaving the client and us out in the cold.

Starting in June our members will only have to pay a portion of the deal and when you go to redeem your coupon you will then pay the remainder directly to the Vendor.

Now you will no longer be looked upon as a non paying coupon customer. You haven't pre-paid in full before the service is performed or the product is given. It also helps the Vendor because they are getting paid when you come in and that helps run their business on a daily basis.

Can you imagine getting your years salary all at once at the beginning of the year and be expected to perform the same for the rest of the year, well it is the same for a business getting a lump sum before they deliver the product or service it just doesn't work.

When you get your coupon you will notice right in the fine print how much you will have to pay the Vendor directly. It's that easy.

Below is an example of what you will see.
